CERTIFIED MAKEUP ARTIST AND LEAD INSTRUCTOR AT MAKEUP SCHOOL NYC

NYC based MUA, Alexa Rae, is booked and busy all year long making-up a collection of different faces using colorful palettes. Her clients include models, brides, major events and various different celebrities for editorial projects. Along with blushing brides and working shoots, she is also the Lead Instructor at one of the top rated makeup schools in New York City. Where she teaches tutorial-style makeup lessons to industry beginner and eager to learn students.

Whether Alexa is teaching classes, or applying Gwyneth Paltrow’s lip liner, she’s not quite used to being in the hot seat. For this year’s annual Makeup Who You Are campaign, we had Alexa show up in her most wild makeup look to our outdoor makeshift set in Central Park. Where we had Alexa do her own makeup, and pose for us. We talked about how she juggles her multiple different jobs, as well as her future career path goals.

Alexa is a hard working 26 year old, who has made quite a career for herself in the makeup world already. She’s mainly used-to making other people look and feel their best. So, in this story, the goal was for Alexa to step out of her comfort zone to look and feel her best. She claims she’s new to the camera, but let me tell you, the camera sure loved her. And we did too. This shoot opened up for such a different, vibrant, confident side of Alexa that I don’t think she even knew she had in her.
